| DUNGEONS OF DELHI:
The Dungeons have been completely remodled for 2009 expanding to
33 rooms and a second floor of terror! The adventure begins at the
Bates
Motel, where an evil desk clerk registers visitors, then summons a
ghastly bell hop (Igor) to provide directions to their rooms. Departing
on our journey brings us face to face with a frenzied, bloodthirsty vampire,
and other creatures of the night including a werewolf and Scream.
Monsters slither and crawl across the floor as the course introduces a
murderous torture chamber; a demonic butcher shop that mutilates people
and processes body parts; and a toxic zone contaminated with an unknown,
but deadly bioligical agent. Blasting sparks, blaring sirens, and
blinding strobes accompany the excursion as it progresses through an asylum
of sorts, and into a darkened cave that hides an overhead surprise before
transporting you to Hell! Finding little use for our God fearing
souls, Satan returns us to the tormenting Dungeons, and into
the clutches of a insanely deranged little girl who's broken the neck of
her doll! Electrocutions and jailbreaks are still to come, as well
as visits to a flaming crematorium; a spooky cemetery; canibalistic hillbillies;
and the creation of Frankenstein, then through a rocking hallway
into the presence evil intentioned clowns! Escaping upstairs paves
the way for attacks at the hands of Michale Myers (Halloween), Jason
Voorhees (at Camp Crystal Lake - Friday the 13th), a treacherousscene
of persecution and death ruled by The Saw Puppet and Jigsaw
himself, and ultimately a chainsaw assault courtesy of Leatherface (Texas
Chainsaw Massacre)! The new floor of the attraction also showcases
a spinning vortex, and their trademark Monster Garage prior to exiting
the expanded rendition of Dungeons of Delhi!
Analysis:
LENGTH - 7½, 14 minutes.
ACTORS - 8½, An all volunteer cast of over 50
monsters, featuring lots of make-up and quite a bit of interacting dialogue.
Character aggressive was raised last season, and that enthusiasm carries
over into the remodeled Dungeons. Vampire and crematory mortician
are standouts. There's still some undersized actors, but this is
by far the best effort to date! Total Characters = 52!!!
SCARINESS - 8, Scenes are traditionally frightening.
Cast does an outstanding job trying to scare everyone. One big, huge
finale following the Monster Garage would carry them to the next
level.
DESIGN - 9, Practically the entire course has been redone
with fresh new scenes, and the expansion into the upstairs portion of the
facility! Detailing is tremendous, and if more of the upstairs is
available, the sky's the limit on how long and how good they choose make
it in years to come. 33 rooms in all! Triumphant return of
a Saw presence is a welcomed addition. Outside décor
is likewise a plus. Simply an amazing effort considering their limited
budget!
PROPS - 8½, Good scenery throughout, especially
in the Monster Garage, cemetery, laboratory, crematorium, and Saw
settings. Rocking hallway remains a classic. Spinning vortex
is among the new additions. Scattered mechanical surprises would
raise the score.
VALUE - 10, Only $5 with a canned good donation is an
unheard of bargain, and there's a $3 re-entry option. Some attractions
charge that much just for parking alone! Isn't it nice to experience
a traditional haunted house the way it's supposed to be!
RATING: 8½, Now in its 16th season,
this annual Cincinnati favorite is better than ever! Countless hours
of hard work and effort have produced a refreshing new look and feel at
The
Dungeons of Delhi that can be sensed as soon as you first set foot
in their queue line! Lights on tours are offered every Sunday from
5 - 6:30 PM for anyone too scared to enter in the dark, and costs only
$3. Be a part of the affordable, seasonal scares waiting just for
YOU! It's all here at the brand new Dungeons of Delhi! |
